CNYMS Rains out at Devils Bowl Speedway
Mother Nature takes another one from CNYMS at Devil’s Bowl. Due to scheduling difficulties, the upcoming events at the Bowl’s sister track, Albany-Saratoga Speedway, and Cayuga County Fair Speedway will get big bonuses.
The CNYMS teams made the long haul to a race track and were rained out. Last Sunday, July 13th, with sixteen of the CNYMS drivers and teams hauling into CVRA’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway in New Haven, VT only to pack it in and go home after hot laps due to downpour conditions.
Attempts were made to get a feature in after hot laps with the wet weather moving in. The drivers were told as they waited for hot laps that the heat races would be bypassed in favor of getting a feature in for the fans that braved the questionable weather. To get the feature starting order, the top eight drivers in points would be inverted with the remaining drivers put into the lineup in a heads up start. All were given 10 minutes to make their changes and as the clock ticked out that final minute, the skies opened up and dumped buckets on the teams as they pushed their cars into their trailers. A short time later, the CVRA management decided to pull the plug on the night’s events.
Because these drivers braved the questionable weather then had to drive home in less than ideal conditions, CNYMS management has decided to award 40 show-up points to any team that signing in for this event.
