Broderick Makes His Mark at Atlantic City
The “Brookfield Bullet”, Jimmy “Bubba” Broderick piloting the Haskell Motorsports TQ turned a few heads on the Boardwalk during the running of the indoor races during the Len Sammons promoted event at the Boardwalk Hall.
With 104 cars slated to take time trials it would be difficult just to crack the top half of the field. Jimmy strapped in and turned a time of 9.191 seconds after touching the backstretch wall on his first lap. Fast time was set by Canada’s Curtis Friesen with a 9.022. The top 60 were within just a few ticks of the stop watch.
Broderick would lock into the “B”-Main in 18th position with his time trial run. With only 10 cars coming out of the “B” Bubba knew there was one way to go, forward and fast! Passing 12 cars in the “B” showing some poise and patients he locked into the “A”. He now would start in 21st for the premier event.
While taking his time and steadily moving forward following Ted Christopher to the front Bubba got tagged in the left rear which in turn broke the valve stem out of the wheel ending his great run. Even though the 22nd place finish was a huge accomplishment, it was a bit disappointing for the Broderick / Haskell team knowing what they may have ended with.
Congratulations to Jimmy, Bubba, & crew on a solid effort from all of your friends at CNYMS.
