Lampron Claims First Ever CNYMS Victory at Woodhull
It has been a long time coming for Daniel Lampron who has been in position several times but could never quite finish the deal. The High Banks of Woodhull Raceway proved to be just what the French Canadian ordered this past weekend picking up his first A-Verdi Storage Containers / CNYMS tour win. The fans in the stands could tell there was joy all around even if the interview was mostly stated in French!
After struggling on Friday night at Afton, Lampron thought he would load up and head home on the long trip north of the border. Tour owner, Mike Emhof arranged for Lampron to stay near the shop of Mike & Jeff VanDusen assuring him he would be better to stay and complete the following night at Woodhull. Lampron is a loyal supporter of CNYMS and makes the tow week in and week out logging many hours on the road in his motor coach. After the win on Saturday night Emhof asked Daniel if he thought he made the right choice. A very big smile came across his face in victory lane.
Starting from the outside the front row beside the 21 of Jared Fink, Lampron wasted no time as he lead all 20 laps of the “A” Main. It was no give me as the racing was hot and heavy throughout the entire field of 1200 Mini Sprinters making their first of two stops at Vern Wasson’s beautifully prepared high banked facility.
On lap 7 the filed was slowed for a spinning P13 of Sehn putting everyone tight together once again. A couple teams were still trying to figure the unique place out bringing a couple more cautions but Lampron held off all challenges. Fink stayed close but had to work hard to hold off the consistent running 18 of Jamie Kiser, the Ken Latour owned 36 with ESS star Jeff VanDusen behind the wheel as well as reigning champ Mike Kiser in his 99. The “Kid” Gaurino, current points leader Don Harvey along with hard charger, Art Kiser, Bubba Broderick and Henry Tanner rounded out the top ten.
Track owner, Vern Wasson was very pleased with the show and is looking forward to the CNYMS season ending program on September 23rd.” The fans will be treated to the Winged Warriors in a $1000.00 to Win affair along with the 600cc NYMM series as well as other supporting regular classes to the Woodhull Raceway.
