Fink Breaks into Victory Lane at Brewerton
The very likeable Jared Fink brought a new mount to the D shaped Dirt Demon and it proved that hard work does pay off. Fink captured the A-Verdi Storage Containers / CNYMS tour event win right out of the box.
After a 10 year absence from the speed plant in Brewerton, NY the 1200cc Mini Sprints of CNYMS made their return to find a beautifully prepared and tacky tight racing surface. Several teams made drastic setup changes to free the cars and stop the bicycling. The 21 team of Jared Fink brought a brand new Henchcraft out and hit the setup spot on. Fink explained,”we worked until 3 or 4 AM every night this week and really finished the car here at the track tonight”.
The night was a tough one for many competitors however. A rash of yellow fever and 3 reds along the way slowed the pace of the high flying winged warriors. “I think the next time back the teams will have a handle on it” stated series owner Mike Emhof . “These guys take good notes while traveling and the next time we see the D Shaped Dirt Demon the times will reflect the efforts”.
It was no easy win for the 21 team as the 211 of young Johnny “The Kid” Gaurino kept within striking distance the entire event. As Fink slipped entering turn 1 on the last lap Gaurino pulled right up on the bottom of 2 but it was not enough.. Coming home a solid points night for 3rd was 44-Harvey followed by 18-Jamie Kiser and 99-Mike Kiser rounding out the top five.
The night was not a good one for the 5 of Bubba Broderick. A spin on lap one placed him at the back and while trying to get lap one in once again he clipped the 15M of Lee Babcock in turns 3 & 4 and went airborne into the turn 4 outside embankment ending his night. Other flip victims on the night were the 16 of Phillips in a heat and the 31b of Mike Bosco on the final lap of the “A”-main.
The double points night shook things up throughout the tour as the 77H-Greg Hoffman had mechanical failure in hot laps. He did pick up the 37 ride of Denis Fink to make laps. 27T-Tomlinson could not make the tow as well as 52l-Lampron and Broderick would like to forget the night completely after loosing the lead in a heat when his wing collapsed and then the spin and flip.
The Broderick Motorsports $50.00 Hard Charger award went to Tanner, Zech picks up the $25.00 Dry Wash N Guard Waterless Car wash awards, 31 picks up the Ultimate Wings $25.00 certificate and Spectro Oils award went to James Kiser.
