Harvey Scores Third CNYMS Win at Old Stomping Grounds

As stated by the race winner, Don Harvey II in victory lane in front of a packed grandstand, “When I saw Thunder Mt. on the 2006 CNYMS schedule, that was one I wanted to win”. As it turned out, lapped traffic came into play as Mike Kiser lead from lap 2 to 19 and a close 2nd place Harvey took advantage wth the white flag flying. Harvey was able to pin the 99 of Kiser behind the P13 of Jerry Sehn who was having a good run himself and go on for the win. This makes Harvey’s 22nd win at the Fast Track on the Mountain with this one being the 1st CNYMS tour win there.

Starting the evening out, there was a good field of 20 1200cc Mini Sprints in the pit area bringing 2 solid heats to the track running both in a blistering pace around the super smooth race track going green to checker in both heat races. Picking up the wins were two veterans in Denis Fink in a borrowed ride from Canadian Daniel Lampron and the track and fan favorite Don Harvey II. Even though the A-Verdi Storage Containers CNYMS tour had not been to the Fast Track at Thunder Mt. in over 5 seasons both looked like they had never left the place.

In the “A”-Main, it would be the 2L of Dennis Fink along side the Kiser 99 bringing them to the Green. Fink took the initial lead but Kiser was strong and powered around Fink on lap two. Current point leader Harvey moved into 4th just behind the Team 22 mount of Paul Corazzo out for only his 2nd CNYMS run of the season.

The first caution flew on lap 4 for a spinning 21 of Jared Fink. The only other caution of the evening for the mini sprints flew on lap 9 when the likeable Canadian competitor, Daniel Lampron slowed with a broken timing chain under the hood of his beautiful 52L. Racing resumed with the top 5 being M. Kiser, Harvey, “the Young Gun of the East” Bubba Broderick, D. Fink and Corazzo. After missing the Heat race due to an earlier race at Whip City, Henry Tanner in the Hoffman Home Transport 90H was moving forward from his tail starting position.

Picking up the Broderick Motorsports $50.00 Hard Charger award was Henry Tanner, Mike Kiser picks up the $25.00 Dry Wash N Guard Waterless Car wash awards, Mike Bosco picks up the Ultimate Wings $25.00 certificate and Spectro Oils award went to Denis Fink.
