Short Track Super Nationals Qualifier on Tap at Afton for CNYMS
Sodus, NY – It will not only be a high paying $1000.00 to win program but a guaranteed starting spot for the October 7th Short Track Super Nationals will also be handed out this Tuesday night, June 27th at Pat Jordan’s Afton Speedway for the running of the 2nd annual Summer Slam event.
The first two attempts at getting in a CNYMS show with the Jordan’s has proved that Mother Nature wins her share of early spring races. The traveling teams of 1200cc Mini Sprints will make their first of 3 appearances at Afton in 2006. The 2005 version of this pre-4th of July program brought out the largest field of cars for the season. “We are looking for a very competitive program on the evening” stated tour owner Mike Emhof.
Last years winner, Rick Hench is slated to return to defend his title as well as a solid cast of A-Verdi /CNYMS tour including point leader Don Harvey II, last years champion Mike Kiser along with father and brother Art and Jamie, Bubba Broderick, James Tomlinson, the VanBuren’s, the Hoffman Home Transport team, and Rookie contenders Joe Brukert & Ricky Donovan. It is expected that some of the teams from Whip City Speedway and Accord speedway’s weekly programs plan on making the tow for the big money CNYMS event. Rumor has it that the reigning Patriot Sprint Car Champion “Flyin” Bryan Howland may be driving a mini sprint for the show.
Gates open at the speedway at 4:30 with racing at 7:00. The New Afton Speedway is the home of the Short Track Super Nationals and hosts racing every Friday night at 7:30pm from April through September with a weekly five division show that is highlighted by the mighty Big/Small Block Modifieds featuring sail panels. The Speedway is located just off Interstate 88 at exit 7.
