Mother Nature Wins”A”-Main at Albany
Sodus, NY - Mother Nature won the A-Main at Albany-Saratoga this past Friday June 2nd. It will be double feature night when CNYMS returns July 28th. The 18 cars signed in for this past Friday night will run an "A" after hot laps that night and then it will be a full show following for all competitors.
With a threatening forecast and dark skies, the show was pushed along to get it in. Management at Albany had the track in perfect condition and it made for some fast paced action for the 1200 mini sprints. Greg Hoffman picked up his first win in a mini sprint in the 1st heat. Don Harvey and Mike Kiser were right on his heels making for some great racing.
Bubba Broderick picked up the second in run away fashion. That has been the case with the young, up and coming star all year. “If he can keep a power plant under him he will be near the front”, Stated CNYMS owner Mike Emhof. In the second heat race, Brandon Igo, making his first 1200 Mini Sprint start in a backup car front the Broderick Motorsports stable lost steering and flew the car off from turn one and ended up about 40 feet into the woods coming to a sudden stop meeting a hearty Maple Tree. Brandon was a bit shaken but otherwise fine, however, the car was destroyed.
It will be Harvey and Broderick to make up the front row for the "A" when the powerful Mini Sprints make their way back to the Capital Region. With Harvey a typical bottom runner and Broderick flat out up high this should be exciting!
The CNYMS stars and cars will make their way into Central New York this coming weekend with stops at the Dirt Motorsports facilities at Canandaigua and Cayuga County this Saturday and Sunday June 10th & 11th.
