Central New York Mini Sprints - "It's a Wing Thing!"™

Central New York Mini Sprints is a touring series for mini sprint race cars. The series is owned and operated by Mike Emhof. Although some tracks around the country present a regular weekly racing program for mini sprints, CNYMS presents a traveling show. That is, CNYMS teams travel throughout the northeastern United States and Ontario Canada, stopping at a different track for each "tour" race.

CNYMS has made appearances in or near every major metropolitan area, including New York City, Albany, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and Niagara Falls, and Hartford, CT. Short track racing within this area drew an estimated 6 million spectators from a total population of over 40,000,000.

In 2004, ISG Racing introduced the series to Central New England as the top-billed division at a national event for mini sprints.

Don't let the name fool you! Although mini sprints are 725 pound scaled-down welterweight versions of the popular "World of Outlaw" open-wheeled sprint cars, they are serious and sophisticated racing machines. Car stability, provided by characteristic top and front wings, coupled with the 200 horsepower generated by 1200cc motorcycle engines, produces average lap speeds on 1/2 mile dirt tracks in excess of 100 miles per hour. Mini sprint car racing is quick, exciting, and highly competitive.

Each season, the series is graduating talent to full size sprint series’ such as the Empire Super Sprints and the Patriot Sprint Group. Drivers that have used CNYMS as a stepping stone in their racing careers include Erin Crocker, a five-time ESS winner, to the World of Outlaws rookie of the year, and then NASCAR. 2001 ESS Rookie of the Year Billy White , ESS A-Main winner Rich Wood along with Russ Bennett, Billy Bradshaw, John Lieto, and the young guns that will enter ESS and Patriot this year are Bryan Howland, Matt and Doug Norrie, as well as Blake and Bobby Breen.

The goal of the Central NY Mini Sprints is to promote top quality racing at the best race facilities to insure the highest exposure for our marketing partners along with providing fun competition for our drivers, crews and fans.
